How to read your birth chart
Start with your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. Then use the placements table to find each planet’s sign and house. The lines across the wheel represent aspects between planets; their names and orbs are listed with your results.
For example, “Venus in Taurus, 7th house” combines a planet, a sign and a house. In astrology, Venus relates to affection and values, Taurus to steadiness and comfort, and the seventh house to partnerships. Read the combination together.

A birth chart and a natal chart are the same thing: a map of the Sun, Moon and planets at the time and place you were born. A full chart includes planetary signs, houses and aspects. Your daily horoscope usually focuses on just one part of that chart: your Sun sign.
How do I calculate my birth chart?+
Enter your name, date of birth, local birth time, birthplace and country, then select Create my free birth chart. Choose your city from the suggestions so the calculator can use its coordinates and historical timezone. Enter the time recorded at your birthplace; you do not need to convert it to UTC or adjust for daylight saving.
Can I use this calculator without knowing my birth time?+
This calculator requires a birth time because it includes your Rising sign and houses. These depend on the time and location of birth, and an invented time can change the result. Check your birth certificate, hospital record or family records for the recorded local time.
Does my free birth chart include houses and aspects?+
Yes. Your results include a chart wheel, Sun, Moon and Rising signs with short meanings, planetary signs and degrees, all twelve house cusps, and major aspects. The aspects shown are conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines and oppositions. Retrograde planets are marked in the placements table.
Can I download my birth chart as a PDF?+
Yes. Use Download PDF on your results page to save your chart wheel, Sun, Moon and Rising signs, planetary placements, house cusps and aspects. You can keep the PDF on your device or print it.
Is this a Western or Vedic birth chart calculator?+
This is a Western astrology calculator. It uses the tropical zodiac, Placidus houses and true lunar nodes. It does not produce a Vedic, sidereal or kundli chart. A calculator using a different zodiac or house system can show different placements even when the birth details are identical.
How accurate is the birth chart calculation?+
Planetary positions are calculated using Swiss Ephemeris, with historical timezone and daylight-saving adjustments for the selected birthplace and date. The accuracy of your Rising sign and houses also depends on the birth time you enter. When comparing charts, check that the birth details, zodiac and house system match. Placidus houses cannot be calculated for some polar locations.
Is the birth chart and PDF really free?+
Yes. The calculator, chart results and PDF download are free. You do not need to enter payment details or buy a reading.
What if I cannot find my birthplace?+
Select your birth country first, then type the city or town and choose the matching region from the suggestions. Try a common alternative spelling if needed. If your birthplace is missing, contact us rather than selecting an unrelated city.
